Potting Shed
Shenmore Court Farm – Hereford
Rugged woodwork, some serious views of the lake, glass walls and all things green make it easy to channel your inner botanist here.
The seedling of an idea for a potting shed at the bottom of the garden to keep Jennie’s green thumbs happy, bloomed into a much bigger idea – a two-storey cabin!
The roof is made of sweet chestnut shingles and the wood stove is made from an old gas bottle with a copper kettle perched on top.
No WiFi access feels natural, not inconvenient.
Bring home some local Hereford Hop cheeseburgers and have a laid-back games night, instead.
The best part?
There’s not a soul around to care if you spill tomato sauce on your shirt!
The biggest luxury here is space.
Two warm and light floors; one for living (complete with home-from-home kitchen and bathroom), one for sleeping, plus a mezzanine futon for a couple of extra friends.
There’s a balcony the whole length of the cabin overlooking the Canada geese on the lake and cattle in the neighbouring fields.
In good weather, you can laze in the hammock strung up between the two fruit trees.
Maps and binoculars are yours to take on wooded walks and the great wide skies make for tip top stargazing conditions.
The heath-land ridges of The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons’ peaks and caves are both about an hour’s drive away.
Space for extra 2 adults from £20 per adult per night sleeping on double futon. Children over 10 welcome at the same rate.
Cooking – 2-ring electric hob, slow cooker, toaster, fridge
Washing – Hot shower and flushing toilet
Heating, lighting & bedding – Storage radiator , wood burning stove, electric ceiling and wall lights, plug sockets. Bed linen and towels provided
Entertainment – Cards, backgammon, draughts, Articulate, bezique, assorted books and local Ordnance Survey maps.
£130 per night for 2 people.
